Surfing in Scotland can be a little fickle, so to avoid cancellation and to maximise the progress you make on the waves we’ve decided create a Surf lesson mailing list that you can sign up to below.

Every Monday, our professional coaches will assess the wave report and weather conditions for the upcoming week and open up the sessions that work best. This way, you’re guaranteed great coaching and great waves, a win win!

Surfing lessons just a short drive from Edinburgh.

There is nothing quite like the feeling of catching a wave.

You’ve challenged yourself, both physically and mentally, navigating your board through the oceans’ powerful swell, until you see your wave approaching. You dig deep, producing several more paddle strokes then finally feel the wave take control; a moment of weightlessness and exhilaration. This moment makes all the exertion worthwhile, and encourages you to go through the same process wave after wave. There’s a reason surfing transformed from a niche alternative activity to a mainstream sport in the 60’s, and has grown to become an Olympic sport more recently.

At Ocean Vertical, we’re fortunate to have multiple surf locations on our doorstep, allowing us to move to where the waves are best on the day. Our beach locations are wild and stunning.

Our experienced professional coaches will introduce your equipment, highlight the key safety points, and simplify the fundamentals to maximise enjoyment, progression, and safety. Our small lesson groups and three-hour lesson time – from sign in to coffee by our wood burning stove – enables the perfect balance of coaching and practice time.
